Classical Studies

Professor of Classical Studies and Director of the Honor Scholar Program

I earned my A.B. in Classics and Archaeology from Wellesley College and my PhD from the Interdepartmental Program in Classical Art and Archaeology (IPCAA) at the University of Michigan. My research interests in Mediterranean Archaeology include: the archaeology of cult, ancient migration and settlement patterns, and ethics in collecting cultural heritage. I teach a broad range of courses, including Greek, Near Eastern, Egyptian, and Etruscan Archaeology, as well as literature courses and Latin. For Winter Term, I regularly take 富二代视频app students to Greece. In the summer, students can participate in my field school in Umbria, Italy.

I have participated in archaeological field projects around the Mediterranean, from North Africa to Turkey. Since 2015, I have been the director of the Trasimeno Regional Archaeological Project (TRAP) in Umbria, Italy. This is a collaborative research project and field school that seeks to recover, through excavation and survey, the ancient heritage in the territory of Castiglione del Lago on the shores of Lago Trasimeno. In addition to uncovering several Roman sites, we are presently working on the development of a new archaeological museum for the Trasimeno region.

At 富二代视频app, I have served as the Director of the Writing Program, Chair of Classical Studies, and I am currently (since 2021) the Director of the Honor Scholar Program.
