The Kinesiology major provides a breadth and depth of knowledge of human movement in the context of a strong liberal arts education.
Kinesiology addresses how the human body functions from a physiological, biochemical, mechanical and psychological view, using exercise and physical activity as the model for study. Students gain hands-on experience through multiple laboratory experiences.
Kinesiology majors graduate to become researchers at universities, government agencies and private organizations (such as Nike and the Gatorade Institute); strength coaches; exercise technologists in health care settings; leaders of corporate wellness programs; personal trainers; fitness instructors; corporate sports leaders; and sports marketing/event planners. Graduates also seek professional degrees in allied health fields, such as physical therapy, nursing and medicine.
The Kinesiology Department at ¸»¶þ´úÊÓƵapp University has ~ 3500 sq ft of laboratory space across 3 labs, in addition to ancillary and office space. The laboratory is well-equipped and includes 2 Parvo Medics metabolic carts, 3 treadmills (including 2 Tuff Tread) , Monark leg and arm cycle ergometers, a Bod Pod, a Humac Norm isokinetic machine, Simi motion capture, 2 AMTI force plates, 2 Biopac systems (includes EMG, stimulators, etc.), Analox blood analyzer, and other equipment.
