Returning Students
Need-based financial aid is not automatically renewable. You must reapply each year to be considered for grants, loans, and/or work study.
Financial Aid Application Steps for Returning Domestic Students*
To apply for need-based financial aid, including state and federal programs, you and your parents must submit the following:
- – 富二代视频app's six-digit federal FAFSA code is 001792.
*Students who are not US citizens or permanent residents may be evaluated for semester abroad or extended studies based on the 富二代视频app University Student Certification of Finances.
Financial Aid Application Deadlines
The priority deadline for completing the financial aid applications is March 1st. The FAFSA can be completed online.
富二代视频app Verification
Some students may be selected by the federal government for a separate process called "Verification." In these instances, the student will receive a separate request from the Financial Aid Office by email and/or by letter identifying what additional items are required to complete the file. The deadline for submitting verification items is 30 days from the time of notification or by March 1st (whichever date occurs later).
Penalties for Missing the Deadlines
All financial aid applicants are required to submit renewal documents according to the established deadlines. If your file is incomplete, you may jeopardize need-based scholarship assistance. Beginning June 1st, need-based scholarship assistance is awarded based on funding availability. If there are special circumstances that prevent you from meeting these deadlines, please contact the Financial Aid Office.
When You Will Hear From Us
Returning students applying for financial aid will be notified in early June. Students receiving need-based assistance must also meet minimum Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards.
Special Note for Indiana Residents
It is imperative that Indiana residents meet the required filing deadline established by the (April 15th, although we recommend completing it earlier). If you receive state financial aid and you do not submit your FAFSA by the deadline, you will be ineligible for state financial aid and 富二代视频app University will not replace the loss of these funds.
Federal Loans for Returning Students
- Eligible students who complete the FAFSA will be awarded federal student loan(s) in their financial aid package.
- Loans typically disburse to your student account ten days before the start of each semester.
- Loan funds are applied to any outstanding educational charges.
- Origination fees are deducted from federal loans at the time of disbursement.

Important Reminders for Returning Students
- Financial aid eligibility is based on your enrollment status. Financial aid awards may be prorated for part time enrollment. As your enrollment changes, your financial aid package may also change. Please allow ample time for the financial aid office to reprocess your financial aid package for enrollment changes. Initial financial aid notifications are typically sent assuming full time enrollment
- Institutional grants and scholarships are commonly replaced with named endowed awards. You may notice these changes each academic year on your billing statement. Named Scholarship recipients may be asked by the Development & Alumni Engagement Office to provide a thank you note or attend a scholarship event.
- All students are required to provide proof of personal health insurance coverage each year. For additional information and to complete the waiver, please visit the Student health insurance information page at /campus-life/wellness/depauwhealth/students/student-health-insurance.
- Student and families who utilize Federal PLUS or Private Education Loans should apply each year before the start of the semester. More information is available here /offices/financialaid/types/loan-programs.
- As always, be sure to watch for emails from the financial aid office. This is the primary form of communication used when action or documents are needed to complete your financial aid file.
